Bumble has long been committed to supporting women through the power of sports—and in 2023, we broke the mold by signing 50 college women athletes to sponsorship deals on the 50th anniversary of Title IX. Women’s sports have come a long way, but we’re still nowhere close to equality—and the general public agrees.
In a recent Bumble survey of adults in the U.S.,* 67 percent of respondents said they think that there are still significant obstacles that make it harder for gender equality in sports. And 68 percent surveyed agree that women athletes have to work harder than male athletes to achieve the same recognition. Additionally, 71 percent of respondents said they believe that women’s sports deserve the same financial investment as men’s sports.
To continue our work empowering women in the NCAA, this year Bumble will be sponsoring Jada Williams and Cameron Brink, two athletes who are making waves in their respective sports. Each athlete will receive a one-year sponsorship deal—with the opportunity to champion and uplift another up-and-coming woman athlete of their choice by selecting them for a Bumble sponsorship. Jada’s athlete is Breya Cunningham and Cameron’s athlete is Brook Demetre. As part of these secondary NIL deals, Bumble will sponsor Cameron and Jada’s chosen athletes, providing them with mentorship, networking opportunities, and personal development resources to help them navigate their careers. Ready to meet the team? Read on to learn more about these incredible athletes and their endeavors.
Meet Jada Williams
Jada Williams, a freshman guard on her university’s women’s basketball team, is a tour de force on the court. Notably, she represented the U.S. and secured gold medals at prestigious events, including the 2022 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) U17 World Cup and the 2021 FIBA Americas U16 Championship. In addition to her on-court accomplishments, Jada made history as the first high school women’s basketball player to sign a national name, image, and likeness (NIL) deal in fall 2021.
Meet Cameron Brink
Cameron Brink, a senior forward for her university’s women’s basketball team, is another collegiate basketball superstar. She won the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, as well as garnering two WBCA All-America selections in 2022 and 2023. On top of this, she’s been a force in the Pac-12 collegiate athletic conference, winning the Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2022 and claiming two Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year titles. Brink’s impact is reflected in her recognition as a Pac-12 All-Freshman Team member in 2021. She also received the CalHOPE Courage Award (an award bestowed upon student athletes in California who overcome personal hardships and mental health issues) in 2022 for her bravery in discussing her mental health.
At Bumble, we couldn’t be more excited to support these extraordinary women in their careers and continue the fight for gender equality in sports. Go team!
