Bumble’s Basic Info and Interest Badges let you put all of your key information up front on your profile so you don’t have to spend time thinking about what you should be including—or use up space in your bio for the essentials. From lifestyle and hobbies to values and traits, Badges can help you figure out whether a potential match could be a great new connection. Below, the difference between Basic Info and Interest Badges, and how to add them to your profile.
Basic Info Badges
Basic Info Badges, which show up under “My basics” on your profile, cover the following: work, education, location, hometown, height, activity level, star sign, drinking and smoking preferences, whether or not you have or want kids, religious beliefs, political views, and what you’re looking for on Bumble. You can fill in as many or as few as you feel comfortable with, but the more you fill out, the better chance you’ll have at connecting with people who share the same fundamentals as you.
To add Basic Info Badges to your profile, select the gray silhouette at the bottom of the screen to go to your profile page, hit the “Complete my profile” button underneath your profile photo, and scroll down to “My basics” and “More about me” to enter your information.
You can also use Basic Info Badges as a way to filter who you want to see on Bumble. You can filter profiles for free based on preferences like age and distance, but with our Bumble Boost and Premium subscriptions, you can access our Advanced Filters feature. This allows you to sort through even more Basic Info Badges to be shown profiles that match with what you’re looking for. Having your own Basic Info Badges completed on your profile will also allow you to be seen by potential matches who use Advanced Filters.
To change filters on Basic Info Badges, click on the gray heart or the gray hive icon at the bottom of your screen, and then click the filter icon in the top right corner. Select “set advanced filters” at the bottom of the page, and you’ll be taken to a screen where you can filter matches by any of the Basic Info Badges.
Interest Badges
Interest Badges let potential matches know how you like to spend your time and what your values are— whether it’s knitting, netball, or nightclubs. There are nearly 200 Interest Badges to choose from under the following categories: Creativity, Sports, Going out, Staying in, Film & TV, Reading, Music, Food & drink, Traveling, Pets, Values & traits, and Bumble values & allyship.
To add Interest Badges to your profile, select the gray silhouette at the bottom of your screen then hit “Complete my profile” underneath your profile photo. Scroll down to “My interests” and search through the categories to select up to five activities or traits that represent you.
While you can’t filter matches based on Interest Badges, they’re a quick way to let people know what’s most important to you. You may be more likely to swipe right on someone (and them you) if you have a better idea of how they enjoy spending their time and what they value. Interest Badges make it that much easier to find the board game-obsessed foodie you’ve been looking for.
Creating a Bumble profile that’s authentic to you starts with your Basic Info and Interest Badges. Use them to showcase who you are and what matters most to you, and you may just match with someone who shares your favorite things in common.
