Bumble is looking for a hands-on, experienced Associate Director of IT to help us scale our office IT infrastructure and grow our small and mighty team from the ground up.  The role is expected to lead IT operations and helpdesk supporting our corporate and remote offices across the globe including an HQ in Austin of 75+ people, a London office of 25+, and 8+ smaller teams. This includes providing support for office IT infrastructure and applications, including e-mail, printing, wireless and wired network connectivity, phones; overseeing facility support, including conference rooms and meeting spaces, IT coordination of live events, coordinating with on-site vendors, etc.

This role will report to our VP of People and Culture and be located at our HQ in Austin, TX.

The main aspects of this role will involve:

  • Coach, mentor, develop, and generally oversee all IT team management and development
  • Oversee entire IT department, including infrastructure and applications
  • Manage and oversee all stages of the development lifecycle for new projects
  • See that all reported issues are resolved quickly and efficiently
  • Liaise between all parties/company stakeholders to understand requirements and how best to meet them
  • Keep an eye on our offices' IT infrastructure: ranging from Wi-fi to server installations, to telephony and video conference equipment.
  • Procure buy-in from senior management for needed projects
  • Cover procurement of IT equipment and services, interacting with the outside suppliers.
  • Develop and manage the long-term strategic direction for the IT team to ensure alignment with the company's strategic plan and corporate goals
  • Report progress and challenges to senior management
  • Stay up to date on security risks and ensure corporate security
  • Maintain existing programs, seeing that necessary updates are made
  • Oversee maintenance of hardware
  • Work with the People and Culture & Finance teams to implement seamless employee and contractor on- and off-boarding
  • Manage IT budget and company assets

Required experience, knowledge, and skills:

  • 10 years IT experience, including IT Operations and Helpdesk
  • 5 years managerial experience
  • Must have experience with remote IT operations
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or similar, relevant experience
  • Background in Networking and Telephony (CCNP level and up).
  • Comptia A+ preferred
  • Skilled commercial negotiator - we want the best prices from our suppliers.
  • Extended experience with IT contractors - managing specifications, overviewing progress and meeting the deadlines.
  • A process-oriented individual, with strong project management skills, who has the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organization
  • Knowledgeable in compliance and information security
  • Positive, “can do” attitude, including the vaguest requests - as long as they are IT-related.
