Bumble Partners With the National Domestic Violence Hotline to Launch Employee-Centered Volunteer Program

In 2020, Bumble Inc. announced a multi-year pledge to support the National Domestic Violence Hotline, an Austin, Texas-based organization dedicated to supporting those affected by relationship abuse—and helping them claim their power back.

Over these two years, survivors of relationship abuse have faced an increased risk of violence as the pandemic has continued. Now that normal daily activities are resuming, survivors are reaching out to The Hotline for support more than ever before.

Bumble Inc. will be rolling out a pilot employee volunteer program as an evolution of our  partnership with The Hotline and in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October 2022. Co-created by both organizations, this program will allow Bumble Inc. employees from across all our apps to access volunteer opportunities with The Hotline. A portion of this time will be designated as paid time off during normal work hours. Bumble Inc. employees will receive training on how to handle non-crisis calls that come through The Hotline, with a view to sign up as volunteers in early 2023 once training has been completed.

This sustainable volunteer response allows Bumble Inc. employees to provide crucial information and resources to survivors, so that The Hotline’s professional crisis staff can answer more critical inbound calls and messages. The collaboration brings an innovative approach to the two organizations’ shared commitment to help empower people across the U.S. to create healthy and equitable relationships both online and in real life.

If you or anyone you know is affected by relationship abuse and needs support, please call 1−800−799−7233. If you are not able to speak safely, please visit thehotline.org or text “START” to 88788.
