Priyanka Chopra is the ultimate multi-hyphenate: award-winning actor, producer, philanthropist, activist, and entrepreneur.
Today, she adds ‘Bumble partner, advisor, and investor’ to that list.
Priyanka joins the Hive ahead of our upcoming expansion into India; she’ll play a pivotal role as we make our debut in this new market.
Bumble and Priyanka first began collaborating for the launch of our networking mode Bumble Bizz in October of 2017. It was then that she and our founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd realized the potential of joining forces to amplify our efforts. From then on, they began architecting a plan to partner and collaborate on a rollout into India.
“Women want love, they want friendship and they want to find a career, and that’s the uniqueness of what Bumble delivers — a digital community that encompasses all that, while empowering women to take charge of their lives,” says Priyanka.
“I’ve always believed that investing in women is key to social transformation and economic growth, and in working with Whitney and her team over the past year, I’m inspired by the real, positive change Bumble is creating and I’m proud to have the opportunity to contribute to this movement as a partner.”
Priyanka’s manager Anjula Acharia also joins Bumble as a strategic advisor.
“There are hundreds of millions of young women in India that are part of a larger movement to take control of their lives, and they’re demanding respect and independence,” she says. “Bumble’s values are beautifully reflective of that movement as their mission is driven to empower young women worldwide and to give Indian woman a non-judgmental, digital neighborhood where they can feel safe and confident as they connect for work, friendship, and for love.”
Bumble will officially launch in India this fall after spending the past 9 months building a local team, defining a go-to-market strategy, and engaging key partners in the market. Large-scale marketing and events hosted by Whitney and Priyanka will kick off in major markets this fall, with sustained activations taking place across a range of other major metropolitan markets.
Over the next few weeks, Bumble will roll out specific features focused on adding a vital layer of protection to Bumble’s safety standards, which already include photo verification and photo and profile moderation by a team of over 4000 worldwide. Bumble has also localized the user experience with versions of the app available in both Hinglish and Hindi for iOS and Android.
