After matching in mid-November 2015, Tracey and Andrew met for the first time on the night before Thanksgiving. Since then, they’ve taken a big step forward and gotten married. Read below to learn more about their love story!
How long did it take to meet up after matching? What did you do for your first meet up/date?
We matched a few days before Thanksgiving Eve and met on November 24th, 2015. We met at Brother Jimmy’s located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. We sat the the corner of the bar and spoke for approximately 3 hours without having a single drink. We consider that night to be our “consultation” because Tracey was not called into work and she didn’t want me to meet her at her place of employment, but I insisted. Two days later we had our first date. We went to a restaurant called Spain and then bowling.
Tracey, what was the first message you sent on Bumble?
I believe I said, “I know you!” We had never met before in person but we were friends on Facebook for about a year prior to matching.
Andrew, what was your first reply back?
I think I replied, “I don’t remember you.” Or something along those lines.
Tracey, how did this match feel different?
The feeling is hard to put into words. I felt like his energy and positivity was so genuine, and I had nothing to lose by giving him a shot. Best decision I’ve ever made.
Andrew, how did this match feel different?
I had reached out to her on Facebook almost a year prior to matching on Bumble. We went to the same college and had mutual friends so she came up on my “people you may know” list.
I had the same thought about Tracey when I contacted her on Bumble as I did when I messaged her on Facebook. She was the most beautiful person I had ever seen. I don’t know what it was about her that made me so persistent, but I felt something that made me push harder to meet her than I ever had pushed before.
Tracey, what was your first impression of Andrew? How did you feel before the first date?
I thought he was very handsome and had an outgoing personality, which I needed in a partner. He seemed to have a good head on his shoulders and his dad jokes were spot on. He made me feel like I was the only girl in the room and conversation was never ending.
Before the date, I tried to not put any pressure on it. We met up last minute because I didn’t have to work that night and it was on the way home for him. I didn’t want him to meet me there but it was already late and I thought, “If this is another guy that seems fantastic and doesn’t work out — whatever”. Once I saw him, I felt at ease. An hour into talking, he told me he wanted to take me out on a real date very soon and I was hooked.
Andrew, what was your first impression of Tracey? How did you feel before the first date?
I knew from the moment I saw her in person that she was the one I was going to marry. Before our “consultation” I was very anxious to meet her. But during the time between our “consultation” and first date, I was overcome with excitement, joy, and thankfulness.
Tracey, what do you consider a unique aspect of your relationship now?
We are always ourselves around each other and our relationship hasn’t changed the way we are with friends and family. If anything, we have both joined into each other lives effortlessly. We just click. We argue like ever other couple but I never question our love for each other and always know that we will have honest communication.
Andrew, what do you consider a unique aspect of your relationship now?
We keep an open mind when trying something new that our partner enjoys. We trust each other 100 percent. So when Tracey wants to do something that I have never done (due to fear, being uncomfortable, or any other reason), I will join her without even thinking twice.
Where are you now? Where are you headed in the future?
Tracey: We live together in Midtown Manhattan. Currently, I am bartending at an awesome whiskey/cocktail bar in Midtown. I also work for several liquor companies and run tastings and create cocktails for their events. In the next few years, I am looking to grow in the cocktail industry and continue creating amazing experiences for people. With that, I can’t wait to raise a family with Andrew and find something that is more stable but keeps my passion going. I know we are hungry to travel more and will be saving up to do so.
Andrew: I am working as a Police Officer. I am working towards giving my family everything that they deserve. We just got back from our Honeymoon and are already thinking about where we’d like to go next. At the top of our list is Los Angeles, California and Denver, Colorado. We have been talking about having our first kid in the next 2 years and hopefully buy a place of our own as well. But since meeting Tracey, I have been on the fast track to a lifetime of happiness.
