Bumble Celebrates Pride 2022 with Support to LGBTQ+ Organizations

At Bumble, we encourage our community to show up as they are, inclusive of their gender identity and/or sexual orientation. That’s why we aim to create a space where everyone can feel safe and seen.

This Pride month of June—and all year round—we’re proud to be an inclusive platform. But Pride is about more than celebrating LGBTQ+ folks; it’s also a time to highlight and combat the discrimination, harm, and attacks on fundamental human rights these communities face. This Pride Month, Bumble is donating to these three organizations that do important work for LGBTQ+ communities:

My Sistah’s House was started as a way to provide transitional housing to some of the most vulnerable of the LGBTQ+ communities in Memphis, Tenn. Temporary housing is especially needed for trans and gender non-comfoming people, as they can be blocked out of shelters—or shelters might not be safe for them. My Sistah’s House, which was also a  recipient of one of Bumble’s 2020 Pride donations, provides emergency housing, permanent housing, resume coaching, name change assistance, bail funds, and other resources to trans and gender non-conforming people of color in Memphis.

Equality Texas serves the LGBTQ+ community of Texas through political advocacy, education, and organizing. The nonpartisan group works with legislators, politicians, and lobbyists to protect and advance the rights of LGBTQ+ Texans. Equality Texas also provides resources and coordinates demonstrations and volunteers to fight against discrimination targeting the community. Bumble’s contribution will specifically go toward their Queer Texas Crisis Fund, which supports small trans-led and trans-serving organizations that provide community assistance to transgender Texans.

Trans Lifeline is an organization run by and for trans people in the United States and Canada that provides confidential peer support via their 24/7 hotline. The nonprofit also gives microgrants to trans and non-binary people to correct names and gender markers on legal documents, and to support incarcerated trans folks. Trans Lifeline received one of our 2020 Pride donations, and Bumble has continued to partner with them since.

Bumble will continue striving to make our app and our community a kind and safe space, this month and all year round.
