Bumble Success Story: Jamie and Randy

Jamie and Randy matched on January 29, 2016, about a day after they both downloaded Bumble. They are now happily married, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for the beautiful couple! See below for more details about their relationship.

Jamie, how long did it take to meet up after matching? What did you do for your first meet up/date?

I messaged Randy on a Monday morning, “Happy Monday! Hope you have awesome day!” We planned our first date for that coming Friday night. For our first date, we met at a restaurant called Local 463 and then we walked around afterwards into various stores. Realizing that it was way too cold for all that, we stopped into Starbucks for some hot chocolate. We really didn’t want the night to end, so we took a drive down the Natchez Trace Parkway because the stars were too pretty to pass up, and we talked for hours.

Randy, what was your first reply back?

“Hey! Oh my gosh, I can’t believe this thing works. I’m a complete rookie at this, so I’m not sure of proper protocol. Thank you, and I hope you have a great day too, too!”

Jamie, how did this match feel different?

I had tried out a few other dating apps, and I felt like I kept matching with the same kind of guys: shallow, self-centered, non-committing guys who only wanted to “keep it casual.”

Within a few messages, I knew Randy was different. We had so many common interests, and he was very open about everything. I knew something was different about him in such a good way.

Randy, how did this match feel different?

I matched with Jaime on my second try at Bumble. My first reaction was, “My gosh, this girl is beautiful.” I swiped right on her that Sunday night, and I got that magical match notification. I dropped my phone on my bed and smiled. Within a few messages, I could tell that she was so sweet and so confident, and she instantly became even more attractive. Jaime was my only match, and she was the only one I needed. I HAD to meet her.

Jamie, what was your first impression of Randy? How did you feel before the first date?

My exact first thought was, “Well, that is an attractive and muscular man!” It was a great first impression.

From our conversations throughout the week, I had gotten so excited to meet him and see if he was all he was cracked up to be. Before the date, I was a little nervous but I was more excited. I hoped he was as great of a guy in person as he was on paper, but he was even better than I could have imagined.

Randy, what was your first impression of Jamie? How did you feel before the first date?

My first thoughts were, “Pictures don’t do her justice. Those muscles are FINE. And a nose ring…? Score.” I was nervous. I hadn’t been on a first date in years, but the chats we’d had through Bumble and text had put me at ease. We knew enough about each other to be conversational, and we clicked instantly.

Jamie, what do you consider a unique aspect of your relationship now?

We are parents. He was already a single dad when we met and all I had ever been was the fun aunt Jaime. Now joining together with him to help raise two awesome boys, I couldn’t image anything better.

Randy, what do you consider a unique aspect of your relationship now?

I never thought I’d click with anyone as much as I’ve clicked with Jaime. We have such abnormal things in common! We love the gym, we’re complete weather geeks, our dads are both preachers, and our faith is very important to us. It was so important for both of us to find someone with whom we had faith in common.

Jaime is full of grace, and my boys absolutely adore her. Before I met her, I was just hoping to find someone with whom I had a few things in common… and hope for the best. Jaime fits me like my missing puzzle piece. She has completely sold me on “when you know, you know.” She’s my second chance, and I could not be more grateful.

Where are you now? Where are you headed in the future?

We have been happily married for several months. We are about to share our first Christmas together, and we couldn’t be more excited. We have so many family trips in the works; we both want to travel the world, and we both can’t get enough of each other. Raising a family is a hard job after being single for so long, but having such a wonderful partner makes all the difference. Oh! And we just adopted a beautiful Husky!

What are your favorite things to do together?

We love our workout dates. We try to work out together at least four times a week. That is our thing. We love to go on adventures. I was single for just about my entire 20s so I did a lot of things alone, now I get to take those trips with my ride or die and, sometimes, we get to bring our boys and our new puppy with us.
