Every once in a while, it can be helpful to take a pause and ask yourself: does my Bumble profile need a refresh? If you haven’t been finding what you’re looking for, or your preferences have changed, switching up your profile can contribute to making connections that are right for you.
If yours needs an update, read on to find out what you should be considering when hitting “Edit profile,” and how to make it authentic.
Keep your photos recent
When it comes to your photos, one of the most important considerations is that they’re up to date. You want all your photos to be taken in the last year, but within the last six months is even better. This way you can show your true, current self.
Your photos are the first part of your profile that somebody sees, so how do you know which ones to pick? In addition to being recent, make sure your photos are mostly solo shots—and that you’re showing off your brilliant smile in them. A balance of close-ups and photos of you doing things you love means a potential connection not only sees what you look like, but gets an insight into your daily life.
If you can’t decide which photo to put in the first position on your profile, you can toggle on Bumble’s new Best Photo feature. This ascertains which of your first three profile photos results in the most right swipes or “likes,” and then puts it at the top of your profile. Use cultural events to keep your bio fresh
If you’ve had the same bio for the past six months, try switching it up. Keep it fresh by including a line about recent events, whether a serious statement about a topic that matters to you or a fun reference to a pop culture phenomenon. It can help spark a conversation and give potential matches an insight into your thoughts and interests.
Is there something you really want to know about your match, like whether they’re a fellow dog lover or if voting’s as important to them as it is to you? Add the question to your bio! Or if you can summarize yourself and your values in a few words, this is a great place to do so. Think of your bio as your headline: what do you want folks to know about you more than anything else?
Don’t miss out on Profile Prompts
Refreshing your Bumble profile is a perfect opportunity to take a look at which Profile Prompts you want to feature, and to see if any new ones have been added since you last updated them.
With over 40 Profile Prompts to choose from, taking the time to choose the questions and write the answers that best reflect who you are can seriously level up your profile. You could update your two truths and a lie, or if you’ve been binge watching a new TV comedy and want to find your sitcom soulmate, why not add the Prompt “If you laugh at this, we’ll get along…”? Whichever Profile Prompts you go for, make sure that they’re easy for you to answer and help show off your fun side! For more tips on getting the most out of your Profile Prompts, see here.
Take a look at your lifestyle and hobbies
It’s normal for our interests to change as we do, and when you update your profile, it’s good practice to take a look at your Interest Badges and see if they all still ring true. If one of your Badges is Baking but you can’t remember the last time you used your oven, take a look to see which of the other options best reflect what you’re into. You can choose up to five Badges that not only cover hobbies, but also what you like to eat, watch, and listen to, as well as your values and lifestyle, like whether fitness is a priority, or if you love theater.
Our choices also evolve with us. It’s possible that recently you’ve changed your drinking habits, given up smoking, or have decided that you don’t want kids. You can convey all of these decisions in your profile with Basic Info Badges to let others know how you’d align before they swipe right.
By refreshing your Bumble profile regularly, you’re giving yourself the chance to find the connections that are right for you—and empowering your dating experience.
