If you’re looking to be seen by more people on Bumble, you can use the Spotlight feature to jump to the front of the queue. Rather than waiting for other daters to come across your profile, Spotlight will ensure that your profile is seen within others’ first few swipes. It’s available for you to use whenever you’d like, but it can be especially useful when you don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to dating, or you’re hoping to meet someone within a specific period (like while traveling or in need of a plus one to a wedding).
Spotlight is like your personal VIP pass to the front of the line and a simple way to get more out of your time on Bumble. Depending on which option you choose, activating it will instantly show you ahead of everyone else for up to 150 minutes, without anyone knowing you paid to promote your profile. Here’s what you need to know.
How to activate Spotlight
Users with Bumble Boost and Bumble Premium paid subscriptions already have access to one Spotlight every week. When you’re ready to use yours, just tap the gray silhouette at the bottom of your screen to go to your matching page. There, under “my pay plan,” you’ll see how many Spotlights you have left. Click on the Spotlight option, and you’ll activate the feature. One 30-minute Spotlight is included weekly with your subscription, but you can also combine it with the purchase of a second Spotlight to keep your profile front and center for 150 minutes.
Just remember Spotlights included with your Bumble subscriptions don’t carry over week-to-week; if you purchase a subscription on a Tuesday, the accompanying perks will expire the following Tuesday. The good news is that your next batch of subscription perks—including your next Spotlight—will be replenished that same day.
If you don’t have a subscription, time in the Spotlight can also be purchased individually. Follow the same steps as above, tapping the Spotlight option to make your selection. The choices are the same: purchase one Spotlight to ensure your profile is among the first users see when they open the app for the 30 minutes following its activation, or buy two Spotlights to keep your VIP status for 150 minutes.
How to best use Spotlight
While there’s no bad time to use Spotlight, activating this feature between 6 and 10 p.m. will ensure your profile is at the front of the queue when the majority of Bumble’s community is active on the app. We recommend saving plenty of your daily swipes to help you make the most of your time in the Bumble Spotlight.
Also, make sure your profile is updated before you use this feature. (Do you have all six photo slots filled? Have you included your answers to three Bumble Prompts to showcase your personality?) That way you can rest easy knowing your profile is in the best shape possible before it’s put front and center.
It’s basic math: the more people who see your profile, the more chances you have to match with someone. Bumble Spotlight is here anytime you need that extra boost.
