How to Make Your Bumble Profile Super Authentic

At Bumble, we want to help make sure you’re able to share your personality with potential matches. Read on for all the different ways to express yourself in your Bumble profile, beyond the About Me section.

Let your photos show your lifestyle

As the saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words,” and your photos are your first impression. We recommend leading with a no-frills selfie where your face is clear. As tempting as it may be to use that one super-hot, perfectly-angled photo from five years ago, choose recent shots so you’re not misleading a potential match. (Plus, you’ll know they like you for you, not the pink hair you once had during a college phase!)

Once you’ve uploaded a clear shot, use your remaining five photos to hint at your lifestyle (and psst: filling out all six photos tends to lead to more matches). If you’re the artsy type, choose a photo of you at a museum or gallery. Big fan of happy hour? Include a candid pic with a cocktail in hand. Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide how you want to portray yourself.

Just remember: no shirtless mirror selfies on Bumble! And be sensible about safety. Don’t stand outside your house with its street address visible, for instance. Read our full photo guidelines here.

Cover the basics with Profile Badges

Use Bumble’s Profile Badges to show potential matches what you’re all about while saving precious bio space. The Badges you can add are:

  • Your height
  • Your activity level
  • Your star sign
  • Your education level
  • Whether you drink
  • Whether you smoke
  • If you have kids (and if you want them in the future)
  • Your religion
  • Your political leaning
  • What you’re looking for on Bumble

It’s best to be honest with your answers because some of these things could be deal breakers for other people—which is fine! You deserve to be your full self and to find someone who celebrates you. Plus, it’ll save you time and effort in the long run.

Use your ‘About Me’ to elaborate

Once you’ve got your Badges filled out, it’s time to use your About Me section to dig deeper. This is where you can expand on the things that matter to you, what your life is like, or what you ideally want in a potential match. Pro-tip: Stay positive and talk about the things you do like rather than your dislikes and deal breakers. (Those things are best communicated through a one-on-one chat!)

Do you love the outdoors and want to meet someone who’ll go on hikes with you? Can you be found throwing down in the kitchen on any given day? Then say so! Remember that this is your profile and anything that’s a constant in your life is worth sharing. Here are a few good examples:

Think about whether your tone matches what you’re looking for on Bumble. If you’re seeking a serious relationship, you might want to get deep about your values. Just looking for something casual? Keep it light and flirty.

Round it all out with Profile Prompts

Last but not least, adding up to three Profile Prompts can help you cover the bases you haven’t already. You can use this to get serious about what you think makes a relationship great, or you can get silly by describing your zombie apocalypse plan. Bumble has a ton of Prompts to choose from and they’re the perfect cherry on top of a super-authentic profile.

At the end of the day, honesty is always the best policy. Only you know who you are and what you want, so don’t ever feel like you need to compromise your personality or values to attract people. Just be real, and the right people will come your way!
