Bumble is available in your App Store and Google Play store! We are currently focusing on iOS and Android, but we’d love to eventually roll out for Windows Phone. We’ll be sure to update on social media and our website when this happens!
After two people mutually opt in to connect with each other by swiping right, they're added to each other's 'hive' of connections. Then, the following actions will depend on the user’s gender:
The woman always makes the first move, and if she doesn't say something to a new connection within 24 hours, that connection disappears forever!
Men can’t start a conversation with the female users but they can show special interest in a match by extending just one per day to remain in queue for an additional 24 hours
We designed the “girls talk first” aspect of the app to correct a lot of the common problems that women face when chatting with men online. That being said, Bumble is a place for everyone regardless of their gender or dating/friendship preference. Since this concept was designed to correct an issue with opposite sex dating, we’ve removed that functionality and restriction from any same sex connection. Both parties in any same sex connection are encouraged to make the first move and are completely able to do so. Bumble loves every user, and we continually take feedback that will help us make the app more friendly and successful for everyone.
We designed Bumble to correct a lot of the common problems with apps that include the ability to chat. We based our concept on the feedback from tons of women who were tired of being spammed with annoying messages. That being said, we realize that there are great guys out there who never have and never intend to send any rude messages. That’s why we’ve included the “Extend” option. Also, we have many more updates coming with added functionality for everyone. We’re really sorry if you’re upset or offended in any way by the app’s concept. This is our move in attempting to counter the age-old and often outdated “guys always have to make the first move” idea!
Right now we use Facebook to pull important information like your name, age, school and job to create your profile. This is important not only because it makes your signup process super fast, but it also ensures that information is genuine and reliable. In the future we intend to add additional methods of signing up.
To add a new job or school information, just tap on your Profile Edit screen and select the section you would like to update. If you are using our Android app, the new information will be shown automatically. If you are an iPhone user, simply pull down to refresh and update your info! You can select any of your listed jobs or schools to display on your profile. If you change your job at any point or want to change this information, just follow these steps again!
One of the most interesting aspects of Bumble is that we encourage our users to show reliable info on their profiles. While looks are important, we think that having real information about a potential connection will make them more appealing. Job and School information provides you with a deeper understanding of who you’re swiping on and who’s swiping on you. We feel that by pulling this information from Facebook, the accuracy of the info will be improved. If you don’t want to show your school or job information for privacy reasons, you can select an old occupation or school, change your Facebook information to be less specific or simply delete it from Facebook.
Alternatively, you can completely remove your school and job information by deleting your Bumble account, revoking Bumble's access from your Facebook, creating a new account on Bumble and denying its access to your work and education information on the initial permissions screen.
You can upload a photo by going to your profile, tapping on the edit icon on the upper part of the screen and clicking on the camera icon. You'll have the option to import from Facebook, from your phone's library or you can take a brand new one! Please note that you can only add 6 pictures to your Bumble profile!
The first photo in everyone’s profile is their main photo or profile photo. If you want to set a photo to be the main, simply enter the Edit Profile mode and drag any photo to the first position in your profile preview. Everyone will now see this as your main!
You can delete any photo by going to your profile, tapping on the edit icon on the upper part of the screen and selecting the 'x' on the photo.
We work hard to ensure that Bumble is a safe and empowering platform for all of our users. Our new photo moderation rules are in place to protect our community.
If you photo has been moderated, it will most likely be for one of the following reasons:
- Your photo contains erotic content
- You're wearing swimwear or underwear. Swimwear is OK in a pool or beach setting, but no bathroom mirror selfies or similar - let's leave that for when you get to know a Bee!
- Your photo is of someone under 18 by themselves
- Your face is not clearly visible, due to the image file being too small, your face being obscured, or too many filters being used
- Your photo contains a watermark
- Your photo has a caption or text overlaid
- You have uploaded a photo of a famous person, or someone that is not you.
We pull your name from Facebook so, unfortunately, it's not possible to change it without changing it on your Facebook profile.
To change your gender simply go to your Profile and select 'Edit' in the top left corner. After that you can select the correct gender under the section 'Gender.' Be careful, you can only change your gender once and you won't be able to change it back!
We pull your date of birth information from your Facebook account, so in order to change it you need to change it first on your Facebook profile. As soon as you change it, your age will be updated on your Bumble profile!
If you accidentally swiped left, you can shake your phone to Backtrack on your last decision. Please be careful though; you'll only get three Backtracks! Each Backtrack that you use is restored after 3 hours. Alternatively, you can also get more Backtracks by sharing your Bumble love on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Please note that you can't undo decisions any further back than your three most recent left swipes!
Bumble shows you people in or very close to your city. Once you’ve voted on all of the contacts in your area, our system will automatically find other users from places near your location.
The more you play the game, the more chances you will have to find a match! Don't forget that you can add up to six photos to your profile, and having more photos will increase your chances of receiving right-swipes. We can also let you into a little secret; higher quality photos always perform better!
Before any messages can be sent, two people will need to have swiped right on each other to create a connection! Once a connection has been made between a male and female user, only the female user will be able to initiate a conversation with the male. If the female decides not to chat, the connection will disappear after 24 hours.
In order to extend a match, you'll need to go to your connections section and select the connection that you want to extend from your expiring connections. Then tap 'Extend This Match' and it will be extended for 24 hours. Please note that you can only extend one match per day and you cannot extend the same match more than once!
So sorry to hear that you couldn't write to your match in time! The good news is that expired matches will appear in the game again, so you'll get another chance to match with these users. Make sure you check your Bumble regularly to avoid missing out!
Unfortunately, it is not possible to recover a match that you have deleted. To make sure no one accidentally deletes matches, Bumble asks you to verify that you want to delete a match.
To report someone on the Bumble app, simply go to the person's profile, scroll to the bottom and click on the 'block or report' icon. If you want to report one of your connections you can either report them via their profile, or you can tap on the information icon in the top right corner of the conversation. From there you can either unmatch with the user, or block and report them. Please specify the reason for the report. Once we receive the report, we'll review it as soon as possible! Let’s keep the bad bees out!
We use sound notifications to communicate profile activity with you. However, if you really want to turn them off, please go to your settings on the Bumble app and switch 'App sounds / Vibration' or ‘Push notifications’ off.
Your location will be automatically established by your phone's GPS and cannot be set manually. If you believe that your location is incorrect, please contact our Support team so we can update our geo-database!
In order to enable location services for Bumble, you'll need to open your settings on your iPhone, scroll down to Bumble and then ensure 'While Using the App' is selected under the 'Location' menu.
We are sorry to hear that you want to leave our beehive! To delete your account, open the settings menu of the app and select ‘Delete account’ at the bottom of the screen. You'll then be prompted to type 'delete' to finalize the process. You’re welcome back anytime!
Since the only way to sign into Bumble is through Facebook, Bumble is a password-free app!
Bumble Boost is our new premium feature, designed to make Bumbling quicker and easier for busy bees on the go!
Your subscription will unlock the users that have swiped right on your profile - which means that you can choose to match with them immediately.
It also allows you to re-match with expired connections - so no more missed matches! And, if that weren't enough, you will also have unlimited chances to extend matches.
Subscribing for Bumble Boost is easy!
In your Connections screen, you will see a green circle containing a blurred photo - representing the users that have swiped right on you! Simply tap this circle and you will be redirected to a subscriptions page where you can sign up.
Alternatively, you can tap on one of the silver circles you will see in your expiring connections - these are the expired matches that you missed!

If you would like to cancel your Bumble Boost subscription at any time, simply follow these simple steps!- Go to Settings on your iPhone or iPad and select iTunes Store & App Store.
- Tap your Apple ID at the top of the screen.
- Tap View Apple ID. You might need to sign in or use Touch ID.
- Tap Subscriptions
- Tap the subscription that you want to manage. (If you don't see a subscription but are still being charged, make sure that you're signed in with the correct Apple ID).
- Use the options to manage your subscription. You can choose a different subscription offering, or tap Cancel Subscription to cancel your subscription. If you cancel, your subscription will stop at the end of the current billing cycle.
If you decide that you'd like to cancel your Bumble Boost subscription, simply open Google Play store, and go to Account under the Play store menu. Tap on Subscriptions, and you will see your active app subscriptions.
Select your Bumble subscription, and tap Cancel!
If you are an Android user, and have updated to the latest version (1.9.2) then you can now pay for Bumble Boost with your credit card, rather than going through Play store!
If you would like to cancel your subscription, you can do this within the app. Just go to your Settings screen, tap "Boost subscription", and then tap "Cancel."
You will still be able to use your subscription up until it's current expiration date!
Your Bumble Boost subscription is specific to the profile that you purchased it on. If you have deleted your profile, and created a new one, Bumble Boost will not automatically transfer over to that profile.
