Why we’re asking about race & ethnicity

Ethnicity is an important part of our identity. And we want everyone to feel represented and seen on Bumble.

Inclusivity as a priority

We know that we’ve got work to do when it comes to helping people from systematically excluded communities connect. This is something that matters deeply to us and something we’ve been actively working to improve.

The first step we’ve taken is asking an optional question about race and ethnicity. Letting us know how you identify helps us understand more about our members, including how we can improve representation and better celebrate the diverse communities we serve.

Choose how you identify

You can choose up to five options that best describe your ethnicity. You can share these on your profile, if you’d like, or keep them private – it’s completely up to you.

If you can’t find an option that you identify, let us know here. We want to keep improving this experience, and expect the ethnicity options to grow as we learn more from our members.

Safety first

We have a zero tolerance policy on hate speech of any kind on Bumble. We will not tolerate microaggressions, fetishization, colourism or identity-based hate. If you experience this, please do report it. It’s something we take very seriously – and always will.
