We think the perfect spring date might just exist. Take a few ideas from this bucket list and build your ideal day of dating activities, or check them off one by one over spring this year. Ready for a challenge?
Dive into an early-morning swim
Have a beach or lake nearby? First of all, we’re jealous. Secondly, you’re in a great position to check off this date idea. Cold? Yes. One of the most fun things to do in spring? Also yes.
We promise it’s a great bonding experience, a chance to show off your favorite swimwear, and a way to measure your date’s adventurous streak. But please, safety first: only go in the water if it’s permitted, and don’t take dangerous risks.
If you don’t have a good swimming spot near you, see if you can make it a day trip. We’ll even accept an outdoor pool nearby. It’ll still hit the spot for a refreshing, fun date.
Explore your local farmers' market
Embracing the season starts at the farmers’ market. You’ll find locally-grown, seasonal spring fruits and veggies in variety that likely puts the grocery store to shame—think broccoli rabe, asparagus, artichokes, snap peas, and chard. Have a slow browse, pick out something to cook together, or shop for a picnic (which might come in handy for ticking off another spring bucket list idea later). You’ll be bonding over favorite foods and odd-shaped veg in no time.
Go on a bike ride
It wouldn’t be a spring date bucket list without a bike ride.
Bike rides are a great way to see the sights and explore your area, and we think spring might be the perfect time for this date idea. The sun chases away the chilly mornings, but you won’t be overheating later in the day. Remember to layer up, and don’t forget the SPF! Start the date off with a little pre-ride safety check (because nothing is more attractive than being responsible). Your bikes might have been hibernating all winter, so you’ll need to check tire pressure, brakes, and chain. Next, make sure you know local laws around wearing helmets (though we strongly advise you to strap in), and make sure you have lights if you plan to make it a long day. Then, you just need to decide on a city bike path or a bike trail to check this one off your spring bucket list!
Have a picnic
Another totally classic thing to do in spring. Grab a blanket, discuss the snacks, and load up your basket or cooler bag. If this is date number one, you could bring a card game for an icebreaker. If you’ve lost count of what date you’re on, bring your books for an afternoon reading in the spring sunshine. Bliss.
Location-wise, we love a local park in the springtime—flowers, easy terrain, and excellent dog spotting. If fitness is more your thing, you could turn this into a hike and picnic date. Remember to check in with your date about their hiking experience and take plenty of water, snacks, and appropriate weather-proof clothing. And as always… lots of SPF, please!
Go on a spring walk to see the flowers
Your local park will likely be blooming and looking lovely at this time of year, so add a flower-spotting stroll to your spring dates bucket list. Search for the first flowers of spring and see if you can identify them—we’ve seen a couple of great apps that can help with this. Botanical gardens are an excellent alternative if your local park is more of a playground than rolling hills. They are often free or low-cost, and spring is one of the best times to visit. You can explore plants and flowers that are indigenous to your area as well as more exotic finds. Strolling through botanical gardens is one of the most romantic things to do in the spring, so give it a try.
Give gardening a try
Time for a challenge! Gardening is a great way to connect with the season and make something cool together, so add it to your spring things to do list. First, think about herbs or veggies you like using in the kitchen and get some seeds from any good garden center. Then, you’ll just need potting mix, something to plant them in, and something to stick in the pot as a label.
You can find more detailed instructions online or in any good gardening book. If you want to make this apartment-friendly, no worries—seeds love a sunny windowsill, and you can choose plants that like an indoor life. Don’t be afraid to get stuck in and get messy. It’s a great way to see how you work together and learn more about each other!
Have dinner in your backyard (or in any outdoor space)
Enjoy the pink sunsets with this addition to your spring date bucket list. If you have them on hand, you can make any outdoor table look pretty with a tablecloth and a couple of candles. Food-wise, you could fire up the grill for the first time this year and enjoy the fresh air while cooking up for two. Or, bring the dishes (or takeout) from the kitchen and enjoy dinner outside. You could even do some star spotting as the night gets darker.
And that’s the spring dates bucket list! Try them all this spring season and who knows, your favorite might surprise you. Download Bumble now to get started, find a date, and check off these bucket list date ideas. Have fun and be safe!
