Apps to Make Friends

Apps to Make Friends

Thought apps were just for making romantic connections? Think again. Our users begged us to create a friendship-finding app—and we listened. Whether you’re new to a city or looking to expand your social circle, Bumble For Friends is a fast-track way to create platonic connections and find new friends with similar hobbies and interests. Read on for your complete guide to using apps to make friends as an adult.

How does Bumble For Friends work?

Just like Date mode on Bumble, Bumble For Friends’s algorithm shows you profiles that it thinks you might like. You swipe right if you’re interested, left if you’re not. Thanks to our optimized profile layout, with Bumble For Friends we aim to help make it quicker and easier to find like-minded friends and get connecting.

How do I get started?

First up, you’ll need to download the Bumble app (available for iPhone and Android) and create an account. When you’ve logged in, you’ll find three different options to choose from—Bumble, BFF Mode, and Bumble Bizz. Select BFF Mode (if you set up all three,  you can toggle between our dating, friendship, and business modes) and then it’s time to create your profile.

How do I create the perfect profile for a friendship app?

Just like you would on any other relationship app, except this one needs to be geared towards the friends you’re looking for rather than romantic connections.

Upload up to six photos, set your age, gender, and location parameters, and then you’ll want to craft a bio to let your potential future friends get to know you. Be safe and sure not to share personal information at this stage—there will be plenty of time for this later on and it’s best to stick to talking about your hobbies and interests here.

We also recommend using our photo verification option to let others know you’re the person in your profile pictures. For more tips, check out our guide to help create the perfect profile. Bumble For Friends also lets you link your account with your Instagram and Spotify to let others know just that bit more about you.

OK, I’m happy with my profile. What should I  do next?

Get swiping! Your Bumble For Friends matches will show up in green, Date mode on Bumble in yellow, and Bumble Bizz in orange. When you’ve made a connection you have 24 hours to start chatting before the connection expires. Go, go, go!

Sounds pretty simple! Any other cool features I should know about?

Yes! Our paying Bumble Boost and Bumble Premium subscribers get access to our Advanced Filters. These allow you to select from various attributes and interests you'd like potential friends to have, and then only see those who are looking for similar friendships.
